The Nerimbera Football Club Story.

Our History.

Nerimbera is a Football Club that has truly stood the test of time. Established in 1910, the Magpies have survived two World Wars, the Great Depression, floods and droughts. In more recent times Cyclone Marcia destroyed the club house, but with the tireless efforts of the committee and it's community, the club rebuilt to what you see today.

Our home grounds are nestled between the Fitzroy River and a mountain known by the Darumbal people as "Nurrim''. Nerimbera comes from the Darumbal Aboriginal word for "people of the mountain".

Our home ground, Pilbeam Park,  was named after the former mayor of Rockhampton,  Rex Pilbeam. Rex negotiated with the club in it's early days for residency at the field that we call home today.  The conditions were that the club was required to accept responsibility for developing and maintaining the playing surface.

The club had great success in the 1940's an 1950's as the club dominated in the Wesley Hall Cup - winning 9 out of 11 straight seasons.  But the biggest success of all is creating a meeting place for players to make life long friends.
