Established in 1910 Nerimbera Football Club has a long history of football in Rockhampton. Nerimbera is named for a Darumbal word meaning 'where the mountains meet the river'.

From humble beginnings in 1910, the Magpies have survived two World Wars, The Great Depression, floods, droughts, cyclone Marcia and fierce competition from rival codes.

Locals who closely followed the world game in the early years would recall Nerimbera FC's glory days of the late 1940's  & 50's when the club dominated the iconic Wesley Hall Cup - winning it nine times out of eleven straight seasons. The history books show Nerimbera FC took out the Wesley Hall Cup for five consecutive years from 1953 - 1957.

The club enjoyed a successful period in the mid 1990's, winning back to back titles in the now defunct CQ Soccer League. The club claimed victory of the Wesley Hall Cup in 1995 which was the Cup's centenary year celebration, and again in 2003.

Nerimbera FC has always supported women in football having played an integral role in the establishment of the league in the region. The Rockhampton Women's Soccer Association was formed and official fixtures began in 1975. These early fixtures were held at Pilbeam Park (Home of the Magpies) with the encouragement of Nerimbera FC.

In recent years between 2004 - 2014 the Magpies women have dominated the league claiming 9 out of 11 grand final victories.
